Polyhedra, a zero-knowledge proof protocol platform, has integrated Flare with its zkBridge Decentralized Verifier Network (DVN), as per the most recent updates disclosed to Finbold on August 27.

The integration is set to bolster the development of secure cross-chain applications on the Flare network.

Flare Co-founder Hugo Philion expressed enthusiasm about the integration, noting that zkBridge brings an added layer of security to LayerZero’s protocol:

“Polyhedra’s zkBridge adds an additional security layer to LayerZero’s interoperability protocol and will be welcomed by Flare developers and users alike. Its integration is a sign of the growing support for Flare from cross-chain protocols and demonstrates the value of ZK technology in making it easier for value to flow freely between networks.”

More efficient cross-chain transactions.

Leveraging LayerZero’s decentralized infrastructure will allow Flare developers to harness the cryptographic security of ZK proofs and enhance the efficiency and safety of cross-chain transactions.

The zkBridge interoperability protocol stands out as a trustless and highly efficient solution within LayerZero’s DVNs.

Supporting over 30 Layer-1 and Layer-2 networks, zkBridge has already validated more than 20 million cross-chain transactions.

Using zkSNARKs ensures that a specific state transition on the sender chain is accurately confirmed on the receiver chain, which not only strengthens bridging security but also ensures liveness with minimal validator requirements.

Reducing verification costs and latency

One of zkBridge’s greatest strengths is its ability to safely relay and verify block headers and consensus across different chains using zkSNARKs.

Its 2-layer recursive proof system means swift proof generation with minimum on-chain verification costs, which makes it ideal for cross-chain applications.

Verification costs and low latency are made possible by batching multiple transaction verifications into a single proof.

As zkBridge enhances the LayerZero protocol, it also facilitates smoother asset and data transfers to Flare, which continues to see growth in total value locked (TVL) and wallet creation — a sure sign of the expansion of its decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.

Consequently, developers on Flare can now access data from other networks via zkBridge, enabling the creation of sophisticated cross-chain financial applications within the DeFi space, such as trading, prediction markets, and more.
