LINE NEXT, the Web3 branch of LINE Corporation, has partnered with the Kaia DLT Foundation, the platform promoting the Kaia Layer-1 (L1) blockchain, to launch a suite of ‘Mini Dapps’ (decentralized applications) and a Dapp Portal on LINE Messenger in 2025, as per the information shared with Finbold on Thursday, December 12.

New decentralized applications on the messaging platform are expected to make Web3 services more accessible to users.

The Kaia Wave program

Under the Kaia Wave program, LINE NEXT and Kaia Foundation have selected 30 standout DeFi projects from over 800 applicants.

These include popular entries like Bombie and Shin-chan’s Match Daily, as well as other notable Dapps such as Captain Tsubasa -RIVALS- and Superz.

Youngsu Ko, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at LINE NEXT, remarked on the team’s plan to introduce the widest range of Web3 Dapps to the messenger:

“LINE NEXT has been aiming to increase access to Web3 services from the perspective of both internet and Web3 users and developers. We plan to introduce the largest number of Web3 Dapps and expand our user base, especially in the major LINE Messenger countries of Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan.”

Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman of Kaia DLT Foundation, likewise emphasized the partnership’s potential to accelerate Web3 adoption both across Asia and globally:

“Kaia has been committed to creating a highly accessible, user-centric Web3 ecosystem. We are excited to provide such a convenient Web3 service platform within the LINE messenger. Kaia will continue to innovate blockchain technology and services to accelerate Web3’s adoption in Asia and worldwide.”

LINE Messenger Dapp Portal

The Dapp Portal will let users explore, download, and engage with Web3 Dapps directly within LINE Messenger, with some additional virtual asset trading features and rewards for their usage.

To help support developers in the ecosystem, LINE NEXT and Kaia will provide software development kits (SDKs) and fee delegation, as well as help potential projects with marketing investment resources.

The two partners have plans to onboard over 150 additional developer teams before the end of 2024.

The full list of selected projects and updates will be available on LINE NEXT’s Medium page and the Kaia Wave website.
